Who can benefit from a Personal Chef?
My Personal Chef Service is for anyone who does not have the time, interest or skills to plan, shop and prepare daily meals. A typical client is someone who is tired of take-outs, or dining out, and wants to enjoy healthy, nutritious, personalized meals in the comfort of their own home.
I can also prepare meals for small gatherings and special occasions, allowing you to spend time enjoying yourself with your guests.
Do you prepare meals in my kitchen?
Yes, I will prepare your meals in the safety of your own kitchen. At the end of the day I will leave your kitchen clean and your fridge/freezer full of tasty homemade food.
We have a small kitchen, is that going to be a problem?
Not at all.
I have cooked in all kinds of situations and require a working oven, range tops, sink, & some counter space. The size of your kitchen does not matter; I can adjust my methods according to your facility.
How long will you be cooking in my kitchen?
The length of meal preparation will vary according to the menu selection. It is difficult to say exactly, but typically it can range anywhere from 4-8 hours.
What kinds of meals do you prepare?
I will prepare the entrées that you have chosen from my extensive menu, or if you wish, you may provide your own recipes. For most entrées, one side dish is included. I can offer suggestions for side dishes that complete & compliment the entrées you have chosen or you can choose one you like.
I would be happy to provide additional menu items to compliment your meal, such as side dishes, desserts, etc.
How do we store our meals?
My packaging method is space-efficient, and will maximize the amount of meals stored. Of course, it will depend on how many meals you select for your regular service.
Meals can be packaged family-style, for two or individually. They will be stored in a combination of reusable and disposable containers. Uniform size containers take less storage space in your freezer, and I will bring the appropriate containers for each entrée.
Do I heat the food?
Yes, except for some meals that are meant to be served cold.
Most dishes can be heated in the microwave. While some should be heated in the oven or toaster oven. I can also prepare “grill-ready” or “oven-ready” entrées so you can simply finish prepared meal on your grill or in your oven. I leave you easy-to-follow heating instructions for each entrée and side dish. Generally, frozen entrées should be defrosted overnight in your refrigerator.
How often do we need your service?
The service is on a weekly basis, although in some cases I can come every second week.
What is the difference between your “Fresh Weekly” and “Basic Service” plans?
In the Fresh Weekly plan I will prepare a separate main dish for each number of days requested, and in the Basic Service plan I can do the same, but prepare twice as much of each dish for use during the second week. All items in the Fresh Weekly Plan are designed to be refrigerated (not frozen), and come with salad greens and a home-made dressing.
In the Basic Service Plan, all meals are portioned and placed in the freezer to be used at your convenience, although if you request, I can leave a few dishes in the fridge to be used within the first few days. Both plans are based on a single cooking session.
